Morocco's size and geography mean the "best" time to go really depends on which parts of the country you plan to see — the coast, the imperial cities, and the Sahara all have different ideal windows.

Spring and Autumn: The All-Rounder Seasons

March to May and September to November are generally considered the most comfortable months for a first trip. Daytime temperatures in Marrakech and Fes are warm without being extreme, making these the best months for city-hopping and walking the medinas at length.

Summer: Best for the Coast

June through August is prime time for the Atlantic coast — Essaouira and Agadir both stay cooler than the inland cities and are well suited to surfing, kitesurfing, and simply escaping the heat. Inland and desert temperatures during these months can be intense.

Winter: Best Value, Great for the Desert

December through February is the most affordable time to travel, outside of the Christmas and New Year peak, since demand for accommodation and tours drops. It is also a genuinely good season for the Sahara — days at Merzouga stay pleasant even though desert nights get cold, which is part of the appeal of an overnight camp.
